SUMMARY:Scoresby Classic Bus Display 2025
DESCRIPTION:The Bus & Coach Society of Victoria are excited announce that the inaugural Scoresby Classic Bus Display will be held on Sunday 30th March at the National Steam Centre\, 1200 Ferntree Gully Rd\, Scoresby. \n\n\nNo entry fee to National Steam Centre – but there is a donation box. \n\n\nThe event will commence around 11am and run until 4pm. It will consist of a bus & coach vehicle display across the decades along with joyrides on selected vehicles throughout the day. \n\n\nA shuttle bus will depart Glen Waverley Station (Bay 10\, 753 bay) throughout the day. A gold coin donation applies\, which will cover fuel costs. \n\nFROM GLEN WAVERLEY: 10:50am\, 11:35am\, 1:15pm & 2:15pm \nRETURN FROM SCORESBY: 12:55pm\, 1:55pm\, 2:55pm\, 3:55pm & 4:15pm \n\nRoutes 693 (Oakleigh – Belgrave via Ferntree Gully) & 753 (Glen Waverley – Boronia) also travel past the venue. \n \n\n\nShare our flyer around your depot meal room! – https://bcsv.org.au/…/uploads/BCSV-Scoresby2025flyer.pdf \nThis is a new event on the BCSV calendar & will be open to the general public. It will complement the annual HCVCA Yarra Glen display\, which will still take place each November. \n\n\nWe plan to model the day on the successful BusFest held by our counterparts from Sydney Bus Museum in recent years. Some 50 buses attended their November 2024 event\, a mix of vehicles owned by the museum\, operators and individuals. \n\n\nThose with very long memories may recall a few BusBQ rallies previously ran only for BCSV members and that when the Melbourne Steam Traction Engine Club was in its previous location\, preserved buses did attend several of their major events back in the 1980s. \nThe Scoresby Classic Bus Day will take the place of our March Social Meeting. \n\n\nDISPLAYING A BUS or COACHWe warmly encourage owners of preserved and current vehicles to come along on the day – either operators or those BCSV members with privately owned buses. \n\n\nTo facilitate planning could those intending to attend with a bus please notify BCSV committee member Gary Driver of your intention to participate. His preferred contact method is by email – gdriver@drivergroup.com.au \n\n\nWe’d also welcome expressions of interest for those vehicle owners who would be happy to provide shuttle transfers from Glen Waverley or around the precinct for a gold-coin donation per passenger (to cover fuel costs). \n\n\nPrevious advice from Transport Safety Victoria is that the general public may travel on vehicles on heritage plates if operating on a donation/not-for-hire basis. \n\n\nPlease share this event with fellow preserved vehicle owners or to your friends\, family and any others you think may be interested in attending.

SUMMARY:BCSV: Driver Convoy to Yarra Glen
DESCRIPTION:The annual HCVCA display day was held at Yarra Glen Racecourse on Sunday 13 November 2016. \nSome operators and owners setup on the Saturday to secure prime parking postions. Many vehicles in Driver Bus Lines‘ hertiage fleet travelled in convoy from Mt Waverely to Yarra Glen on Saturday 12 November. \nGary Driver invited BCSV members and interstate guests to ride along if they wish. \nThe convoy of Driver Heritage vehicles left the Driver depot at 45 Rickett’s Road\, Mt Waverley at 1.15pm on Saturday 12th November. There will be an opportunity to change vehicles on the way. \nA current day coach will return attendees to the depot at around 5pm. \nUnfortunately the convoy route did not pass by stations on the Glen Waverley Line before entering the Monash Fwy. The Driver Depot (45 Ricketts Rd) is within modest walking distance of several bus routes for those without a car:\n693 (Oakelgh – Ferntree Gully – Belgrave)\n703 (Blackburn – Syndal – Monash Uni – Clayton – Bentleigh – Middle Brighton)\n733 (Box Hill – Mt Waverley – Monash Uni – Clayton – Oakleigh)\n737 (Croydon – Boronia – Knox City – Glen Waverley – Monash Uni)\n742 (Chadstone – Oakleigh – Glen Waverley – Eastland) \nUse Google Maps or the PTV journey planner to find your best route. \nThe convoy passed through Lilydale arond 2pm – if anyone wanted to board here for a shorter ride\, they were advised let us know. \nThis was a free event but donations were welcome. \nOn Sunday 13 November Driver provided a transfer aboard a regular coach to Yarra Glen\, departing their depot in Ricketts Rd at 8:30am and meeting the 9:14am train arrival at Lilydale. \nThe return journey from the display\, using the heritage vehicles\, left Yarra Glen at about 3pm and drop off at Lilydale Station before travelling back to the depot\, arriving around 4:30pm. \nThe 685 bus provided alternative options to/from Yarra Glen but operates to an infrequent timetable on Sundays.

SUMMARY:Hawthorn Tramways Trust Centenary Weekend (Melbourne & Ballarat)
DESCRIPTION:To celebrate the centenary of one of Melbourne’s original electric tramway operators\, John Whiting arranged for a special weekend of events in both Melbourne and Ballarat. Due to low bookings\, a third day of events in Bendigo sadly had to be cancelled. \nSaturday 23 April saw an all day tour of Melbourne onboard two Z1 trams\, which had been sadly been withdrawn from service after 40 years the previous day. The day included a lunch stop at  Melbourne Tram Museum at Hawthorn Tram Depot\, where John Phillips presented his AEC Regal Mk3 to acknowledge the role the depot played over several years as training facility for government bus drivers. \nOn Sunday 24 April we travelled to Ballarat on a convoy of 3 buses tirelessly arranged by the BCSV tours committee. At Ballarat there were options to visit the tram museums at Ballarat and Haddon (including rides) or enjoy a paddleboat ride on Lake Wendouree. \n
