SUMMARY:BCSV August Tour Day 2: CDC Wyndham Depot & 50 years re-enactment
DESCRIPTION:The BCSV are planning an action-packed tour weekend for August. \nOn Saturday 4 August we will visit Castlemaine Bus Lines\, acquired by the Whitmore Group in mid 2017. Moonee Valley Coaches will transport us to Castlemaine onboard their preserved Austral. (Details – https://bcsv.org.au/event/bcsv-august-tour-day-1-castlemaine-bus-lines/ ) \nThe BCSV: Bus and Coach Society of Victoria are excited to announce a visit to CDC Victoria’s new Wyndham Depot on Sunday 5 August 2018. This new state-of-the-art facility replaced the former Altona and Werribee depots at the start of the year. \nAfter enjoying lunch at Pacific Werribee (aka Werribee Plaza)\, we will return to the inner southern suburbs to re-enact the tour that was the genesis of the Society 50 years ago – held on Saturday 27th July 1968\, prior to the formation of the BCSV: Bus and Coach Society of Victoria later that year. \nThis tour\, which followed local Nuline routes around the Brighton area\, was organised by Paul Nicholson\, John Masterton and Bruce Tilley. We are pleased to announce that Paul Nicholson will join us next Sunday as our guest for a re-enactment of that very first tour. At least three heritage buses will be involved in the event. \nCOST:\n$5 for members\n$15 for non members\nUnder 18s half price \nPICK-UPs:\nBUS 1 – EASTERN SUBURBS\n* Ringwood Station (first bus bay on Maroondah Hwy): 8:35am (return 5.35pm)\n* Box Hill Transit Centre 612 stop: 9am (return 5:15pm) \nBUS 2 – SOUTH-EASTERN SUBURBS & CITY\n* Oakleigh Station 625 stop south side of station in Johnson St: 8:45am (return 4:50pm)\n* Caulfield Station 624 Kew stop north side of station in Sir John Monash Dr: 9:05am (return either 2:45pm & 4:30pm)\n* Southern Cross (216/219 stop outside Coles in Spencer Street\, near Lonsdale St): 9:30am \nNB: Bus #2 will not return to the City after the re-enactment. Express trains depart Caulfield at 10 min intervals – 4:40pm train to City from Caulfield will arrive Southern Cross at 4:58pm. Also see Hoppers Crossing option below. \nBUS 3 – WESTERN SUBURBS & GEELONG\n* Tarneit Station – 170 stop outside platform 1 – 10:05am (awaits the arrival of the 10:04am train from Geelong) \nNB: Bus #3 does not offer a return drop-off. Passengers taking this option can either leave us at Werribee Plaza at 12:45pm & take a 170 bus back to Tarneit (buses operate every 20 mins) or find their own way home from Cauflield at the end of the afternoon re-enactment (drop off at 4:30pm) \nHOPPERS CROSSING DROP-OFF\nAfter lunch (approx. 12.45pm to 1.30pm)\, buses 1 & 2 will travel via Hoppers Crossing Station to drop-off anyone who does not wish to participate in the re-enactment. The 1:48pm train back to Melbourne arrives Flinders St 2:37pm & Southern Cross 2:42pm \nCAULFIELD AFTERNOON PICK-UP\nThose only wishing to join us for the afternoon portion are welcome to meet us at Caulfield Station. SUMMARY:BCSV: Driver Convoy to Yarra Glen
DESCRIPTION:The annual HCVCA display day was held at Yarra Glen Racecourse on Sunday 13 November 2016. \nSome operators and owners setup on the Saturday to secure prime parking postions. Many vehicles in Driver Bus Lines‘ hertiage fleet travelled in convoy from Mt Waverely to Yarra Glen on Saturday 12 November. \nGary Driver invited BCSV members and interstate guests to ride along if they wish. \nThe convoy of Driver Heritage vehicles left the Driver depot at 45 Rickett’s Road\, Mt Waverley at 1.15pm on Saturday 12th November. There will be an opportunity to change vehicles on the way. \nA current day coach will return attendees to the depot at around 5pm. \nUnfortunately the convoy route did not pass by stations on the Glen Waverley Line before entering the Monash Fwy. The Driver Depot (45 Ricketts Rd) is within modest walking distance of several bus routes for those without a car:\n693 (Oakelgh – Ferntree Gully – Belgrave)\n703 (Blackburn – Syndal – Monash Uni – Clayton – Bentleigh – Middle Brighton)\n733 (Box Hill – Mt Waverley – Monash Uni – Clayton – Oakleigh)\n737 (Croydon – Boronia – Knox City – Glen Waverley – Monash Uni)\n742 (Chadstone – Oakleigh – Glen Waverley – Eastland) \nUse Google Maps or the PTV journey planner to find your best route. \nThe convoy passed through Lilydale arond 2pm – if anyone wanted to board here for a shorter ride\, they were advised let us know. \nThis was a free event but donations were welcome. \nOn Sunday 13 November Driver provided a transfer aboard a regular coach to Yarra Glen\, departing their depot in Ricketts Rd at 8:30am and meeting the 9:14am train arrival at Lilydale. \nThe return journey from the display\, using the heritage vehicles\, left Yarra Glen at about 3pm and drop off at Lilydale Station before travelling back to the depot\, arriving around 4:30pm. \nThe 685 bus provided alternative options to/from Yarra Glen but operates to an infrequent timetable on Sundays.

SUMMARY:Hawthorn Tramways Trust Centenary Weekend (Melbourne & Ballarat)
DESCRIPTION:To celebrate the centenary of one of Melbourne’s original electric tramway operators\, John Whiting arranged for a special weekend of events in both Melbourne and Ballarat. Due to low bookings\, a third day of events in Bendigo sadly had to be cancelled. \nSaturday 23 April saw an all day tour of Melbourne onboard two Z1 trams\, which had been sadly been withdrawn from service after 40 years the previous day. The day included a lunch stop at  Melbourne Tram Museum at Hawthorn Tram Depot\, where John Phillips presented his AEC Regal Mk3 to acknowledge the role the depot played over several years as training facility for government bus drivers. \nOn Sunday 24 April we travelled to Ballarat on a convoy of 3 buses tirelessly arranged by the BCSV tours committee. At Ballarat there were options to visit the tram museums at Ballarat and Haddon (including rides) or enjoy a paddleboat ride on Lake Wendouree. \n
