Since the 1971 renumbering the 200 & 300 series have been used for government bus services in Melbourne's inner suburbs and across the Doncaster / Ringwood region, with these routes later transfering to National Bus Company, Melbourne Bus Link and Transdev. From 2016 routes in the outer northern suburbs began receiving numbers in this series as part of expanded networks.
