Sunday 24 July 2005 saw the Route 75 tram extended 2.7km east from Blackburn Rd, East Burwood to Hanover Rd, Vermont South.
Although the ALP State Goverment broke their promise to extend the tramline a further 5km to Knox City Shopping Centre, they funded a dramatic increase to the timetable for the Route 732 bus between Vermont South & Knox City Shopping Centre, effectively meeting every tram, including Camberwell Depot car-in and car-outs. This arrangement largely continues today, although overnight Night Tram passengers must use the hourly Route 967 (Glen Waverley – Bayswater) Night Bus instead.
The combined tram & bus service to Knox City was branded the “Knox Transit Link” with special promotional decals applied to one Ventura low floor, #155, a Scania L94UB with Custom Coaches body. The decals were removed after about a year. This bus later became #886.
